Comments on Apprentice

Over the past month, I have been working on a project called the apprentice. I had to work with a group made up of five members and each week, we would be given a new task. My group name was called, Excel. There were four tasks in all, and Excel won all the tasks. We were the most prepared group to present out of the rest of the groups. In task one, we had to create a company jingle and logo. We also had to create resumes and cover letters. In task two, we had to brainstorm ideas of how to advertise our advertising product, Spoole Cola. In task three, we had to actually create our advertisements. Finally, in task four, we had to summarize our journey of the apprentice. Through all the tasks, Excel did the best out of all the groups and we worked very well with each other because we are all friends. Some struggles that we faced during the apprentice is that we wanted things to be done too quickly and at the end, we had to start all over.
Three lessons I learned while working on the apprentice is that you have to be open into new ideas, practice is very important, and hard work pays off. In the future these lessons will help me because, when I'm working on a job in the future, I have to learn to give away ideas and receive ideas. Also, in the future when I'm working at a job where I have to present things, through the apprentice, I know that I should always use my time wisely and practice presenting. Finally, from the lesson I learned in the apprentice which is hard work pays off, that can help me in the future because I know that if you work hard, eventually, a good result will come. Although the apprentice was very stressful, I had a lot of fun doing it and I learned a lot of new things.

Thuy's Essay

Being Spoole Industries next apprentice is Excel’s goal but is personally my ultimate goal. I just want to say that it has been an honor to have this opportunity to work with Spoole Industries. My journey from task one to this week’s task, our last task, was incredible. There were struggles I faced in this journey but I, and the rest of Excel, still managed to fight through the tough times and continue our successful journey into becoming Spoole Industries next apprentice.
Excel should be chosen as Spoole Industries next apprentice because we are always willing to new ideas and are prepared for every boardroom. We work well with each other and always complete our work. We never let struggles bring us down and we stay together no matter what. If you choose us as the next apprentice, not only will we do a great job with our work, we’ll make Spoole Industries one big family. With us, Spoole Industries will always have a loving, friendly atmosphere.
When I first began the apprentice, I wasn’t as educated as I am now, and I didn’t expect the apprentice to be so complex. Every week, we have different kind of tasks, and through each tasks, I learn different skills. For example, in task one; we had to write our resume and cover letter. That was my first time writing that type of writing and it prepared me for the future. In task two, we had to write business letters. To write an outstanding letter, we needed to have back up research. This task help me to get more comfortable doing research because I will do more in the future. For task three, we had to create our ads for Spoole Cola. That task helped me stand out of my comfort zone and get more creative with my ad ideas. Excel had won three boardrooms in all, and though we are better that when we started, I think we still aren’t perfect. Although I have improving week by week, I know I can do much better than where I am right now. I hope that Excel will work for Spoole Industries in the future. I hope we will learn new skills and still improve from the day we started the apprentice.
Thank you CEO Poole for giving us this chance to work with Spoole Industries. Although there was some stress along the way, we still managed to smile when we walk out the door. I hope you will choose Excel as Spoole Industries next apprentice.

Thuy's Business Letter

Dear CEO’s
Thank you in advance, CEO Poole and CEO Spiezio, for taking your time to read my letter. It is truly an honor to have the opportunity to work with Spoole Industries. I am aware of your product Spoole Cola and your plans to advertise to working women ages 30 – 40. Our company will be advertising Spoole Cola with unconventional ads. We are planning to give away free t-shirts with advertisements of Spoole Cola printed on it. This advertisement will be successful because even though working women ages 30 – 40 won’t be wearing these shirts, just by keeping it, Spoole Cola will be remembered in their mind. We feel your unconventional ads for working women ages 30 – 40 should approve beneficial if placed in the mall, grocery stores, and at the gym.
Many people visit the mall especially working women ages 30 – 40. According to ask.com/questions_about/How-Many-People-Go-to-the-Mall#anc_s, many women shops at the mall. Spoole Cola will advertise well here in the mall because there are many people there to advertise to. Another place Spoole Cola well is the grocery stores. According to fmi.org/forms/uploadsfiles/cl12c30000000E.toc.Time_Use_Institute_Preview_2008.pdf, all working women ages 30 – 40 go grocery shopping. Spoole Cola will advertise well here at the grocery stores because there are going to be many working women ages 30 – 40 there. Finally, Spoole Cola should be advertising at the gym. Which One Do You Think Is Fair?

Which one do you think is fair? Should electives be available on a first come first serve basis or should electives be reserved for the most qualified? Many people have many different opinions and with me, I think electives should be reserved for the most qualified. I know this choice might seem unfair for other unqualified kids that want to be in the class, but here are my reasons on why I chose what I chose.
Reasons why I think electives should be reserved for the most qualified is because sometimes, kids who aren't qualified get into the elective even though the qualified kids can't because they were one day late! I can relate this to my own life because my elective is orchestra but in my class, there are these two kids who doesn't even play but pretends to. It is very frustrating to see because if they aren't going to do anything, why bother join the class?
This is why I chose to have electives be for the most qualified but think about it, which one do you think is fair?

Which side are you on?

I think that public schools should have single-gender classrooms. There are  many reasons why I think boys and girls should separate. One reason is because boys and girls focus on their work better if the opposite gender is not there. Also, behaviors change better if boys and girls get separated. What I mean by that is that boys are always trying to impress the girls by trying to look tough. If the girls aren't in the classroom, they don't have to act tough in the classroom.
In the article, "Boys and Girls Together, Taught Separately in Public Schools," the author talks about the progress with this new idea. As has stated in the article, " tend to focus better without girls around — academic research is inconclusive.: This shows that the students do stay more on task. Also, the article also stated, "“Before it was all about showing the girls who was toughest, and roughing up and being cool,” said Samell Little, now I never hear a word from teachers about behavior problems, and when he talks about school, he is actually talking about work.” This proves that the students behavior do change when in the same-gender classroom. Now the question is, what do you think? Should we have coed classroom or same-gender classroom?

thuy-thuy's novel part 2

Part 2:
“Hey Amilia!” Joyful Cristel bellowed from the other end of the hallway as Amilia stepped in the front entrance of James Herbert Middle School. Cristel dashed toward Amilia her face looking excited. By her look, Amilia knew that Cristel had some kind of story she wants to tell Amilia and Amilia also knew that she and Cristel will have a long conversation again once Amilia allowed Cristel to open her mouth. And for sure, Amilia did not want to experience that all over again. Last time when Cristel and Amilia had a conversation, it went to about 10 minutes and they were talking about toilet paper! “RRRRIIIIIINNNNNGGGGG!!!!!” the homeroom bell rung, Amilia was saved! “Few!” Amilia thought to herself but seeing how sad Cristel looked when she was cut off by the bell, Amilia felt bad.
As Amilia stepped into Mrs.Forge’s room, she notice that a new student had arrive. She was seated right behind where Amilia seat was. The new student had long, black hair with red highlights and she wore extremely dark makeup. Her eye was surrounded with thick lines of liquid eyeliner and her lip was a dark, bruised purple color. Her face was very pale but her eyes had a red, tense color just like the color of the yard in Amilia’s dream! “Strange,” Amilia thought to herself, as goose bumps started to appear on her arm, and as they form, she was reminded of her terrible nightmare.“Class, this is Xnerdrom,” Mrs.Forge whispered quietly for she was also a little scared of the student. “She is a new student here at James Herbert Hoover Middle School and I want you to make her feel welcome,” Mrs.Forge continued.
During homeroom, when Mrs.Forge was taking attendance, Amilia felt like those fierce, haunting eyes of Xnerdrom was staring at her, getting through her skin, it was an uncomfortable situation. Then, Amilia had that peculiar feeling again when Mrs.Forge was announcing the clubs. The strange thing was, Xnerdrom’s mysterious looking eyes never blinked even once and through the ten minutes of homeroom, her eyes was looking in one direction, facing Amilia, since the time Amilia had stepped into the room. Xnerdrom was like a tiger, staring at his prey, targeting his prey, watching every move it makes until it was the right moment to attack. Amilia could feel her eyes breathing on her neck and she didn’t like that feeling, not one bit.
“Xnerdrom, hey wait!” Amilia screamed as she ran toward Xnerdrom who surprisingly, went in the direction that was different from Amilia’s next class. The bell had rung already, and now, it was passing time for period one to begin. “What,” Xnerdrom siad grumpily with a quiet, yet low tone of voice. “Oh, nothing. I just figured I should introduce myself to you and I want to welcome you to Jame Herbert MS.” Amilia replied forcing out a fake smile. Amilia actually didn’t speak to Xnerdrom to welcome her, she just wanted to talk to Xnerdrom so they would become closer and so there were no misunderstanding. No response came from Xnerdrom and the two girls just stood there with the awkward silence, the awkward atmosphere, exchanging looks at each other.
Usually, time in school went by really fast to Amilia but today, she felt like the time just froze, it was the longest day of her life. All day long, she couldn’t concentrate on her academic but instead, she was thinking about Xnerdrom The weird feeling she always get whenever she was near her, and that color in Xnerdrom’s eyes. The period three bell finally rang and it was time for lunch!
Today’s menu was bean Sloppy Joe, cold raw sandwich, or pizza. Amilia thought it was best if she just chose pizza. She got a small bottle of chocolate milk and went to pay at the cash register. As Amilia walked toward her table where her friends were sitting, waiting to tell her their stories, Amilia spotted Xnerdrom sitting on a table in a corner, all alone, with no lunch. “Should I go talk to her, should I give her some food?” The same question kept repeating on Amilia’s mind. She couldn’t help her heart to feel sorry for Xnerdrom.

“Would you like half of my pizza?” Amilia asked timidly, showing Xnerdrom the pizza. The pizza was filled with melting cheese and Xnerdrom had to admit that it looked really delicious. Beside, her stomach was screaming for food. Xnerdrom nodded shyly and took half the pizza, and all though she was hungry, she waited until Amilia was gone to eat the pizza. “Go on,” Amilia flashed a smile insisting Xnerdrom to take a bite and Amilia swore that she saw Xnerdrom flash a little smile back to her. The day went by a little faster, and Amilia felt more blissful not only because she did a good deed but because she made Xnerdrom and herself more comfortable.

I am passionate about history: History of Valentine's Day

Every year we give out chocolate, candy, flowers to our valentine on Valentine'd day but not many people know why we celebrate it. For this post, I will be sharing information about Valentine's Day. The history of it, what was it purpose, who was it for, will e all answered.
We celebrate Valentine's Day to honor St. Valentine. Now, you may be asking, "who is St. Valentine?" There are many legends to the history of St. Valentine. Some legends are...

Legend 1: Valentine was a priest who served during third century Rome. There was an Emperor at that time by the name of Claudius II. Emperor Claudius II decided that single men made better soldiers than those that were married. With this thought in mind he outlawed marriage for young men in hopes of building a stronger military base. Supposedly, Valentine, decided this decree just wasn't fair and chose to marry young couples secretly. When Emperor Claudius II found out about Valentine's actions he had him put to death.
Legend 2: Another legend has it that Valentine was an imprisoned man who fell in love with his jailer's daughter. Before he was put to death he sent the first 'valentine' himself when he wrote her a letter and signed it 'Your Valentine', words still used on cards today.

Respond to an Article

.
The article, "Jennifer McKendrick, Pennsylvania Photographer, Refuses To Photograph Teen Bullies," is about McKendrick who refuses to take pictures of kids who bully others online. McKendrik had discover that these kids had been posting nasty comments on Facebook about other students appearance . She did not wanted to take photos of these bullies and spend her two hours to make them look better because it wasn't worth it. You can read this article on

I agree with McKendrick decision. If I was her, I wouldn't want to try to make someone look better if on the inside, they are truly ugly. Facebook is probably one of the most popular websites where kids leave nasty comments about other students. Even though adults are trying to encourage kids to not be foolish about what they write online, the comments never end. I hope that one day, people won't get their feelings hurt because of online comments.

My Parent Letter: I Want My Own Laptop

Dear Mom,

I would first like to thank you for taking the time to read this letter.  I know it is difficult sometimes
when people disagree on certain issues, but I respect you so much for listening to me. You have been an amazing example for so many years and I truly look up to you and respect your decisions. You always encourage me of my decisions and I just want to thank you of that. We have had many disagreements but with your mature actions, we have always solved our disagreements together. Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart.

Although you have always provided me everything I need, there is really one thing that I would love to ask of you and that one thing is can I please have my own laptop? I understand that you have some objections to me getting my own laptop and I would love for you to hear my side. First, you have told me that we already have two computers at home. That’s what causes you to not allow me have my own laptop.Well, we have bought the computers years and years ago so they are really old. The impact with the computers being old is that it is really slow. Every time I click on an icon on the computer, I end up waiting for about ten minutes! And also,in all, we have five family members. We always have to wait to use the computer especially when everyone is growing up, most of our assignments involve using the computer.

Also, one of the objections that you have listed is that I always play on the computer. Well, playing on the computer is just to help me have a break of doing my schoolwork. After a few minutes on the computer, I usually go back to do my homework. Also, even if I do play games on the computers, they are educational games that help me with the skills I need in school. If you allow me to have my own laptop, I promise that I would play on the computer for just twenty minutes a day.

Again, I sincerely thank you for using your time reading my letter. With my side of the story, I really hope that you let me have my own laptop. Thank you and also, I love you.
